Find
Out About The Journey
What is Child Cancer Journey?
The battle against childhood
cancer is unique for every member of the family touched by the disease.
The child affected by cancer, the parent or parents supporting that
child, and any sibling watching and hoping for a good outcome – each of
these individuals suffers personally, at the same time, yet in very
different ways.
Just thinking about the struggle of these families is tough enough.
Being on the inside, loving and supporting a child battling cancer, is
even tougher – which is why The Keaton Raphael Memorial and UC Davis
Children’s Hospital have established the Child Cancer Journey Campaign.
By joining together, we hope to illuminate the journey through childhood
cancer. In so doing, we are also asking for financial support from
individuals and businesses in Northern California and Northern Nevada to
help local families with the longest, toughest, darkest journey anyone
can endure.
How did the Campaign start?
In 2005, Hyundai Dealers and
Hyundai Motor America lent a hand to children battling cancer through
their Western Region “Hyundai Hope On Wheels Campaign.”
At the conclusion of the 2005 campaign, Hyundai Motor America provided
an opportunity to further raise awareness and educate the public about
childhood cancer in the Western Region by awarding a 2005 Hyundai Santa
Fe to The Keaton Raphael Memorial & UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
This unique collaborative partnership is the basis for the Child Cancer
Journey campaign.
What Is The
Goal?
Through the Child Cancer Journey tour, our goal is to raise $1 Million
dollars for our Patient Care Fund, while educating our
communities about the facts of childhood cancer and impact of this
disease on the entire family.
How will the
Campaign raise awareness & educate our communities?
The vehicle will tour Northern California and Northern Nevada raising
awareness and educating our communities on the importance of supporting
families battling this disease and how they can help.
• The CCJ car is equipped with a state of the art flat panel which
on display, will showcase real family testimonials from childhood cancer
families in our community.
• The CCJ display is equipped with compassionate messaging that
raises awareness about childhood cancer as a social issue that needs
community support.
• The CCJ display provides educational information that visitors
can take with them to learn more about this disease.
• CCJ materials provide opportunities for visitors to directly
impact the lives of local children in their community.
How Will It Help
Families in our Community?
Because childhood cancer is a Family Diagnosis… we intend for this
vehicle to serve as a powerful visual reminder to these children and
their families that they aren't alone in their heroic fight against this
disease.
The Patient Care Fund assists families in Northern California and
Northern Nevada through:
Direct financial assistance through the Family Grant Program and the
establishment of a wide range of support services and projects,
including:

social needs of hospitalized children
