Folsom Police officers will voluntarily go
bald next month.
Seven officers, dubbed the Folsom Fuzz
Heads, will shave their heads at 5 p.m. on March 16 at the UC
Davis Cancer Center in Sacramento. The team is participating
in a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a
non-profit organization raising funds for childhood cancer
research.
Leading the team will be Officer Mark
Brenner. He decided to organize a team after learning a
friend's 3-1/2-year-old daughter had been diagnosed with
leukemia.
"We want to put Folsom on the map at this
event," Officer Brenner said.
Other members of the
Folsom Fuzz Heads are Chris Aland, Christine Corcoran, Dirk
Regan, Don Koupal, Perry Albers, Sean Stokhaug and Skip
Rogers.
Each officer is collecting donations from
individuals who want to see him go bald on behalf of the St.
Baldrick's Foundation.

any member of the Folsom Fuzz Heads team, go online to www.stbalddricks.org/team_detail.asp?2945www.stbalddricks.org/team_detail.asp?2945> or call

Three men of Irish descent organized
the first St. Baldrick's in 1999 in New York. Their initial
plan was to raise $17,000 on March 17. In the end, the event
netted more than $104,000.
Since then St. Baldrick's
events, which have been held in 10 countries and 42 states,
have raised more than $20 million. More than 26,000 heads have
been shaved in support of research to find a cure for
childhood cancer.
